V Premio internacional Tragaluz de ilustración

Bases de participación

Este concurso está dirigido a ilustradores de todos los países. Son requisitos: que el participante sea mayor de edad y que las ilustraciones sean inéditas o no publicadas, y no hayan sido postuladas ni enviadas a otros concursos que fallen en fechas cercanas.

Los artistas son dueños de sus obras. En caso de resultar ganadores firmarán un contrato por el que recibirán siete millones de pesos (COP 7.000.000) para desarrollar las ilustraciones de un libro que editará Tragaluz.

Tema

La imagen protagonista de este año es la casa. Acabamos de construir una casa en Medellín que alberga la editorial junto a otros espacios pensados para nuestra comunidad de lectores, ilustradores, curiosos, fanáticos de lo editorial… Además de nuestras oficinas, la casa tiene un café librería, una galería, un aula de talleres y una zona de coworking.

Al embarcanos en este proyecto, nos dimos a la tarea de imaginar una casa con cada una de sus habitaciones, pensando en qué queríamos hacer en el espacio, cómo lo habitaríamos, qué historia debía contar…

La invitación de este año es a dibujar qué es para ustedes una casa. Cómo se ve, quiénes la habitan, qué la hace el lugar al que siempre quieren volver.

Características del envío

El mensaje en el que se adjunte la propuesta debe tener los datos personales del concursante (nombre completo, edad, número de identificación, nacionalidad) y llevar adjunta la ilustración. Esta debe ser un archivo de imagen JPG de alta calidad (100% – RGB). El formato puede ser horizontal o vertical, debe pesar máximo cinco megas y 150 dpi. Solo se admite una ilustración por persona.

Fallo

Tragaluz elegirá un único ganador. Con él se firmará un contrato para que participe como ilustrador en uno de los libros del fondo editorial. Dicho contrato equivale a 7.000.000 COP (siete millones de pesos colombianos). Si el ganador es extranjero, el monto se convertirá a dólares según la tasa de cambio del día de la transacción.

El pago ocurrirá así: 50% de anticipo en el momento de la firma del contrato, 50% restante al momento de la publicación del libro. El costo bancario del envío corre por cuenta del ganador.

El comité editorial de Tragaluz será el encargado de decidir cuál es la propuesta ganadora. La convocatoria puede ser declarada desierta si ninguna ilustración cumple con la calidad esperada (aunque esto nunca nos ha pasado).

Fechas

La recepción de propuestas comienza el 1 de junio y se cierra el 15 de agosto de 2019. Los resultados se publicarán en la página web de Tragaluz y en nuestras redes sociales (Instagram, Twitter y Facebook) durante la Fiesta del Libro y la Cultura de Medellín, el 15 de septiembre de 2019.

Rules for participation

This competition is open to illustrators from all countries who meet the following criteria: adult participants who submit illustrations that are unpublished and have not been submitted to other competitions recently.
The artists will keep ownership of their works. In case of winning the award, they will sign a contract for seven million Colombian pesos (COP 7,000,000) to create the illustrations for a book that Tragaluz will publish.

Subject

This year’s main image is the house. We have just built a dwelling in Medellín that is home to our publisher house along with other spaces designed for our community of readers, illustrators, curious individuals, fans of the editorial work… In addition to our offices, the house has a café-bookshop, a gallery, a workshop room and a co-working area.

When we embarked on this project, we pictured each room of the house, imagining what we wanted to do in this space, how we would inhabit it, what story it would tell…

This year’s invitation is to draw what a house means for you. What it looks like, who inhabits it, what makes it a place one wants to go once and again.

We will accept one illustration per artist. Illustrations should be submitted to [email protected] Contestants are free to use the technique of their choice.

Submission

The submission message should include the contestant’s personal data (full name, age, ID number, nationality) attaching the illustration. This must be a high-quality JPG image file (100% – RGB). It can be either horizontal or vertical in direction, and must not exceed five megabytes and 150 dpi.

Decision

Tragaluz will choose one single winner. A contract will be signed with the winner to be the illustrator in one of the books published by us. The contract is equivalent to COP$7.000.000 (seven million Colombian pesos). If the winner is a foreigner, this amount will be converted to dollars according to the exchange rate of the day of the transaction.This amount will be paid in two instalments: 50% in advance at the time of signing the contract, and the remainder 50% at the time of publication of the book. The wire transfer costs will be on the winner.
Tragaluz Editorial Board will make the decision on the winning submission. This call for submissions can be considered void if no illustration meets the expected quality (though this has never happened).

Dates

Illustrations can be submitted starting June 1 and no later than August 15, 2019. The results will be published on Tragaluz’s website and social networks (Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook) during Fiesta del Libro y la Cultura de Medellín, September 15, 2019.
